Finding Her Voice

There’s a tale told around campfires & whispered on the wind.
Of a powerful goddess and how she has been awakened.
For you see, her whole lifetime she didn’t know of the power she was gifted.
When she was born, there was a magical stone, as blue as glacier ice, totally mesmerizing, that appeared around her neck. The stone was set in a beautiful & delicate silver necklace.
When the stone touched her throat, it glowed an iridescent blue and then simmered down to a sparkle that was out of this world.
What it did for her, nobody could explain. As she grew older, her voice was clear and bright. When she spoke, it sounded like beautiful bells chiming.
And when she sang, it was like the whole world stopped to listen.
The Leaders of this world started to notice. They knew of the girl with the blue necklace that seemed to glow with an other-worldly sparkle and sing her song of hope and light.
They called a meeting and decided it was time to act.
They could not contain her voice and her message any longer.
So, they sent their best warriors to seek her and take her stone.
They succeeded in every way. When her stone was taken, she lost her voice.
She lost her vibrance.
She lost her sparkle.
For many, many years she drifted through life, unable to speak, unable to sing her song.
The Leaders used many different ways to keep her from remembering.
To keep her from remembering who she is.
To keep her stuck in a never-ending loop of hardship, pain, heartbreak and silence.
Oh, the deafening silence.
It nearly broke her.
Sometimes she would have a feeling, almost knowing, that there’s something amiss. Something is missing from her.
That there’s so much more, but she could not recall. It was always just a feeling.
Slowly, she started to wither away. Her skin became more dull as time passed. Her hair was graying. Her heart was closing.
Then one day, by a miraculous twist of fate, she met a powerful healer.
Destiny was at play.
This healer guided her through dark dreams and fears, directed her on a path of discovery of who she truly is.
What the girl didn’t know was that this healer was an incredibly powerful goddess, sent to guide her back to her power that was taken from her.
She grew stronger every day, and when the healer was satisfied with her health, she showed her the way of their people.
She taught her all she could about the gifts that they possessed.
For they came from the same stardust and lightning.
They were Goddesses of Light.
Keepers of the Stars.
But there was something missing for the girl. She could not unlock her full power without her stone.
She travelled deep into the most dangerous mountains, where creatures dwelled that should not be named.
Her light guided the way.
It is in these mountains that she feels a pull, a feeling. A knowing. Her stone is here. But guarded by the most fearsome creature, the monster created by the Leaders to keep the light and the hope locked away.
The Vaultkeeper has been talked about for centuries. This is the story that mothers tell their children when all else fails.
The mere mention of the Vaultkeeper is enough to send children running to their beds to hide.
The girl was so afraid. She has heard all the stories. And now she will see.
She kept repeating what the healer taught her:
“Shine your light, never stop shining your light. Keep on shining as bright as the sun, for it is in your light that the darkness will surrender.”
The Vaultkeeper did live up to the stories.
And worse.
The girl fought bravely, hanging onto the last shred of her light, when she suddenly realised something.
The light cannot run out. For she IS light.
The moment she realized that her light within her is infinite, she started glowing, the brightest white light the world has ever seen!
And the Vaultkeeper? He was never to be found again.
Some even say his darkness splintered into a million stars, forever floating in the heavens.
She walked into the dark door of the vault, her blue stone starting to pulse and thrum with energy.
She picked up the necklace and put it around her neck.
The moment the stone touched her skin again; it blasted a brilliant blue light for all to see.
The girl, however, was never seen again.
Legend has it she has returned to the stars, her beautiful voice guiding the way for all those who are still looking for their stones.
The Goddess of Light.
The Keeper of the Stars.
