The Tale of the Storyteller

Humans are natural storytellers and use stories to weave their tales, to entice, engage, manipulate or teach. When stories are shared, projected pictures dance across the canvas of each receivers imagination, offering an open door, inviting them to explore the worlds and concepts on offer; the familiar and unfamiliar, the seen and unseen, the known and unknown. The listener takes the hand of the storyteller and together they step off the cliff into the ocean of possibilities and adventure, with blind faith and hope. Whether the stories are myths, fantasy or a version of someone’s truth, conveyed metaphorically, subtly or directly, makes no difference.
Each story transports the listener on their own journey of discovery of self.Stories undoubtedly are a natural and nourishing aspect of learning, born from an innate desire to play and have fun. They beckon forth the inner child in both adults and children alike, conveying in their subtleties an impression of knowing and experiencing in any moment, not just what each listener is able to grasp, but encourages a sense of abandonment and curiosity, to stretch and engage the imagination, beyond known realities, times and dimensions. A good story, one that resonates with the listener, will always be remembered, leaving a lasting impression that will continue to grow as it journeys on from one storyteller to another, embellished with the uniqueness of each individual’s soul language.
Each time, a story is heard for the first time, then a second and third…, it allows for a delving into further possible perceptions and teachings, not heard or understood by the person they were once before. Often, a new connection is formed, an alternative concept is realised, a hidden truth speaks out. The awareness and extent of how a story can change and shape the receiver can be felt in an instant, altering the course of their sails as the winds of chaos set a course for a new adventure, while others, unaware of the subtleties that are brewing, percolating gently in response to a story, may take some time to wake up and smell the coffee. This is the magic of stories, they are living and breathing, unique to humankind, they relentlessly entice us to journey within, blending our own energetic and creative imagination into the mix. Then each time it is shared, the story like Chinese whispers, ripples its way through humanity, time and space. Each newly unique viewpoint born from the original story gets written in the great book of life and created into reality.
